LETTER FROM THE MAYOR – MUNICIPAL INFORMATION – JANUARY 2022

Dear Citizens,

Since you elected the new members of the town council in November, they have been working hard to improve the future of our municipality. During their period of adaptation, they have deepened their knowledge of their roles and responsibilities. In addition, several work sessions have been held to thoroughly look into the challenges facing our municipality. As part of this initiative, the members of the council now each have their own individual email addresses. Not only does this improve communication between elected officials but also with our citizens and other municipal organizations, this initiative enhances the proper functioning and future development of our municipality.

Highlights

  1. Snow removal: we have acquired a second truck for our snow removal operations. This vehicle (second hand) will permit us to better maintain our roads in a timely fashion. This initiative allows us to increase the level of safety of our road network and ensures that if one truck breaks down, we have a backup. In addition, de-icing operations and the spreading of abrasives will be more efficient.
  2. Family: we are working hard to get a public daycare centre (CPE) in New Carlisle. In order to do so, families expecting upcoming births in the coming year must register at the following website www.laplace0-5.com Families with children from the ages of 0 to 5 years who do not currently have daycare services should also register. I hope I can count on you to make your needs known by registering so we can move this project forward and have a public daycare opened in New Carlisle (subsidized).
  3. Education: the municipality is collaborating well with the school board on the new NCHS project. We are addressing the issue of water mains and sewers in certain areas as well as improving the roads to and around the future school. Our goal is to ensure the project runs smoothly and in a timely fashion from our end.
  4. Housing: in order to address the lack of housing and housing opportunities for families in the municipality, I have reached out to several owners of vacant lots. I remain vigilant and am working hard to create opportunities for our young families to build their future homes and lives in New Carlisle. I hope I can count on our citizens collaboration to create these housing opportunities for our local population. I believe we have great potential; I just need the opportunity to make their dreams our reality.
  5. Communication: I invite all citizens to register to the citizen alert system TELMATIK via our website www.new-carlisle.ca This system will allow us to communicate with you directly in case of emergencies via: telephone, text message or email. These messages will concern important information on road closures, water main and sewer breaks, natural disasters, evacuation, changes in garbage pickup and other related subjects.

Sincerely David Thibault / New Carlisle mayor
